During his Fall 2011 US Tour, Carl Palmer was invited to give a lecture at the Music Department of the State University of New York, College at Oneonta. Dr. Orlando Legname (Chair, Music Dept.) invited Carl to speak about music and the music business. In a letter, Dr. Legname said:

"His lecture was beyond anybody's expectations. Mr. Palmer demonstrated a tremendous commitment to teaching a young generation of students. A persuasive speaker, he used his knowledge and captivating personality to give our students first hand and up-to-date information. In the first minute of his presentation, we could notice the clear rapport with the audience. [...] Mr. Palmer's talk was both informative and inspiring to all who watched."
